VL-250 Transceivers and Poor High Speed Serial Interconnects

VL-250 Transceivers and Poor High Speed Serial Interconnects

This is a recording of an FPGA Camp presentation from Nov. 11, 2009.  The theme is how can the transceivers in FPGAs compensate for the poor qualities of the interconnect?  Dr. Eric Bogatin reviews the four important interconnect issues: loss, ripple, crosstalk and mode conversion, and then shows how the transceivers can compensate for these using features such as equalization, source termination of differential and common signals, de-skewing and echo cancellation.
